Among the various cabins that can be viewed along the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail is the Ephraim Bales Cabin.
The Bales cabin was a double cabin with a passageway known as a "dog trot" in between. Dog-trot cabins, which are fairly common throughout the southeastern U.S., typically involve two adjacent cabins with roughly 10 feet in between, but with one continuous roof. The space between the two halves was relatively cool in summer and warm in winter, making it attractive to dogs. Both halves of the cabin have their own chimney.
I am a self-taught Oklahoma based photographer who lives in Mannford, Oklahoma who loves to be out with her camera. When I am not working on portraits you can usually find me out shooting at whatever interest me at the moment. I'm big on being outdoors and I love to travel to different places looking for beautiful landscapes, wildflowers, wildlife or quaint little towns. As much as I love to travel I also love to hit the back roads of my home state to see what I can find to put in front of my camera.
